WTC is nearing, the Border Gavaskar trophy to be a do-or-die situation!

Why do we care about test match series when the shorter cricket formats are already extensively appealing public?

Maybe, this scenario is changing after a mind-blowing performance delivered by the Indian cricket team in 2021 against the Australian team on the grounds of Melbourne, Sydney and crucially Gabba!

The ongoing tournament Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) is in the news but why?

Is it because David Warner made the statement to defeat India on their home ground or Is it because India wants to continue enjoying the title of championships of BGT for longer?

Maybe these are reasons why for BGT but the core reason behind the hype is the 2021 Australia Tour.

If Kohli’s toli wouldn’t manage to win the game without him, this year’s BGT would be all in vain for the Indian cricket team! We can really say that ‘Bando mein tha dum’ and even a series sharing the same title does the true justification for the event that took place in 2021.

Conversation on BGT is not possible without mentioning these 5 highlights from the Gabba series aka the Australia tour 2021

1.       Rahane’s captaincy: in the absence of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane stood up to his team’s expectations via his calmer approach. Though, India’s luck didn’t work for the toss game but managed to win the series 2-1 under his captaincy.

2.       Rishabh Pant: ladies and gentlemen, let us introduce you to the star of the series: none other than Rishabh Pant! He put all his blood, sweat and tears to contribute to his country’s win and how can we forget Pant’s winning shot where he hit a boundary!

3.       India’s blower line-up: the debutant Mohammad Siraj gave in his best despite his personal loss. one of the drawbacks of the series could have been the lack of experienced test match blowers but instead, it turned out to be an opportunity for net bowlers. We saw brilliant performances coming from Washington Sundar, Navdeep Saini and Mohammad Siraj.

4.       3rd match: first test match was won by Australia where India delivered one of the lowest scores of 36 all out in test history. However, they succeed to win the second one. The third match was vital to prove everyone’s predictions of India losing against the Kangaroos. With all due respect to R. Ashwin and H. Vihari, India was able to draw the match.

5.       Surviving kangaroo’s attack: Australians live up to their game strategy; if the opponent player is not out then attack him until they are injured. The following scenario took place and many of our Indian players got injured and had to replace them. By the end of the series, players were covered with blue bruises and still were able to give in their best.

BGT is a test series match between the world’s most famous rivalry India and Australia. This series was named after the former captains Allan Border and Sunil Gavaskar. The test series has been played 16 times in total wherein India hosted 8 times whereas Australia has hosted 7 times once in two or three years.

The previous series was won by India and it holds the title 11 times in total. Now, both teams are equally eager to secure their position in World Test Championship (WTC) by winning this trophy.

BGT 2023 began on 9th February in Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Maharashtra followed by the second one in Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. So far in the series, India leads by 2-0.

The third test match is going to take place on 1st March in Indore. If India wins this match, then it seals their position in WTC.

After the win of two consecutive match series, all we can say is kisi bhi cheez ko shiddat se chaho toh toh poori kayanath usse milane ki saajish mein lag jaati hai
